Y our mother, doctor, and teacher keep pressing you to drink more water prompting you to wonder what the clear odorless liquid really does for you. Well, simple research will show you immense benefits of water to your health but rarely do those pages highlight what it does for your skin. There are several opinions about water and skin with some even saying that there is nothing that it does for one’s appearance. That notion couldn’t be farther from the truth, though, because just like any other organ, the skin must be properly hydrated at all times.

How to ensure that your skin gets enough water

Unfortunately, the water we drink is often consumed by other organs way before it reaches the skin. This means that you need a different approach to ensure that enough water reaches your body’s largest organ:

  • Use a good hydrating moisturizer on your skin after leaving the shower. Try to apply it, two minutes after patting your skin dry as the skin is still porous enough to absorb the product and eke its benefits.
  • Immerse yourself in a pool of cold water as often as you can to give the skin a chance to soak and absorb minerals directly. This favors the skin by keeping it from competing for water with other organs.

Water has been touted as the best product that works for all skin types. Increasing the skin’s exposure to moisture will grant you a radiant appearance. By drinking enough water, you can keep wrinkles at bay, prevent dryness and keep your skin from cracking. If you do not like the taste of pure water you can improve it using lemons, honey or mint but never fail to take in enough fluids every day. Remember to carry a bottle of clan water with you whenever you head out to prevent dehydration.

It is possible to get glowing, supple, wrinkle-free skin by simply using a good moisturizer and drinking enough water. Do this and everyone who looks at you will think you are years younger than you really are.
