A few weeks ago, the My Health TV crew took a walk through the streets of Nairobi to interview some of the local men and women to find out how they feel about their health and how important it is to them.

We were very pleased with the interaction and comments we received and how responsive people were to answer questions about their health in general, as you can see in the video.

The first question we asked the citizens of Nairobi was “On a scale of 1-10 how important is your health to you?” The answers were really pleasing to hear, as the majority of people answered 10 (being the highest of importance). We did not receive an answer that was less than 8, and most of them stated that their health is very valuable and important to them.

We then wanted know what the one thing about their health they would like to improve was. Most of the interviewees mentioned that they would like to focus on improving their fitness and include more time in their day for exercising. The second most common answer was to focus on a healthy diet and to eliminate bad eating habits. These two focus areas go hand in hand to building a healthier lifestyle that will benefit you now and in years to come.

The final question we asked the friendly people of Kenya was: “Where do you get information and help on general health and personal issues?” From what we gathered most of the interviewees visit their doctors when seeking health advice which is understandable as doctors are able to offer professional advice after diagnosing your health issue. The second most popular source of health related information is obtained via the media. Participants told us that if they experience a health related problem they will research for a solution on Google, read articles in magazines or journals.

We realise that people in Kenya are aware that living a healthy life is important and that if everybody focused on increasing their fitness levels and incorporating a balanced diet into their routine, it would lead to more healthy living.
