They say change is good, but it isn’t always easy. We know you are not always keen on changing your habits, especially when it comes to eating habits, but if you want to live a healthier happier life then change definitely is good for you.

When we talk about changing your habits, we do not mean changing your entire diet in one day. Making small changes to your diet and lifestyle over time will show positive results. Take small steps and you’ll get there. Start with these simple steps:

1. Eat breakfast

Always start your day with a nutritional breakfast. Try having a bowl of cereal for the first week. It will give you the energy boost you need to get you started and you won’t be tempted to have a huge lunch.

2. Cut out the sugary drinks

When we say sugary drinks we mean soda, juice, energy drinks, coffee, tea and alcohol. Try to drink as much water as possible. An occasional diet soda won’t do harm.

3. Vegetables

If you are craving pasta, an omelette or a wrap, don’t deprive yourself. Fill them with healthy vegetables such as carrots, tomatoes and avocado. Try whole wheat pasta instead of regular pasta.

4. Watch your portion sizes

When dishing up try having smaller amounts of food. Change your plate size to a smaller one which will help with the smaller portions.

5. Keep healthy snacks handy

In between meals you often get hungry and the first place we tend to go to is a fast food outlet or the cafeteria for a snack. Make sure that the snack you plan on getting is low GI popcorn or a health bar. Keep fruit or granola bars on hand, so when you do get hungry you can snack on those.
