Native communities in Africa, Asia and beyond have relied on the Avocado for skin care since time immemorial. Fortunately, we can also tap into the fruits magical properties using tips and tricks passed down from our wise ancestors. Without a doubt, there are many ways to prepare the avocado for use on the skin but today we will learn one that is easiest:

  • Rinse your face with warm water to open up your pores which may be clogged by oil or dead skin.
  • Mash a slice of avocado and mix it with honey to form a fine paste.
  • Apply this generously on your skin and leave it on for fifteen minutes.
  • Finally, wash off the paste and pat dry using a soft towel. Rubbing is not recommended as it can irritate the skin.

There are many ingredients that you can combine with the legendary avocado to create a useful facemask. These include unsalted butter, egg yolks, sugar, or lemon juice. Use the mask once a week for the best results. Avocados can also be used as sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful U.V rays. For this use the avocado peel or mash a slice and apply the paste to your skin.

  • They do not have wrinkles, fine lines or other visible signs of aging. This is because of the generous amounts of carotenoids which fight any free radicals that would lead to cell damage.
  • Their skin is well moisturized owing too mono-saturated fatty acids which are known to lock moisture in the skin’s epidermal layer.
  • They do not suffer redness or irritation because the Omega-9 fatty acids protect against it. The nutrient is also responsible for soft, supple well-toned skin.

It is not possible to list all the benefits of avocado to the skin but it is obvious that using them is a great idea. If you do not have time to make an avocado mask, experts suggest you incorporate it in your diet for the same benefits. Skin care doesn’t have to be an expensive venture when we have such options at our disposal.
