Types of Headaches and How to Cure Them NaturallyWe all suffer from headaches or migraines from time to time, but they become a major problem when they are debilitating or disrupt our daily activities. Here are four types of common headaches and tips for relieving their pain naturally.

Types of Headaches

Tension: This type creates pressure or constant ache around the skull, but is often concentrated in the back of the neck and head, as well as the temples.

Sinus: Usually diagnosed with other sinus symptoms, this headache causes deep and constant pain in the forehead, bridge of the nose, and cheekbones.

Migraine: This intense headache can last anywhere up to 72 hours and is usually accompanied by sensitivity to sound and light, as well as nausea or vomiting.

Rebound: Oddly enough, this type of headache is the result of overusing painkillers for headaches—almost like withdrawal.

Tips for Curing Headaches Naturally

Tip 1: Avoid common allergens and foods that trigger headaches. Peanuts, dairy products, food additives, artificial sweeteners, wheat, MSG, red wine, and extremely cold foods are just a few examples of the things you should limit or stay away from if possible.

Tip 2: Reduce stress and get enough sleep. Exercises, massages, and meditation will relax muscles and relieve pain while a good sleep schedule can reduce the frequency, intensity, and duration of headaches.

Tip 3: Keep hydrated and limit your caffeine and alcohol intake. Stimulants can trigger and prolong headaches by expanding the blood vessels and enhancing the effects of dehydration. Therefore, you should drink plenty of water during the day to stay hydrated and headache free.

Tip 4: Lie down in a quiet, dark place with a cold compress. A dim room can help minimize sensory input while a cold compress ensures you’re reducing any swelling and inflammation.

If you suffer from chronic headaches, speak to your GP to ensure there’s nothing else going on in your body that may be the cause. Understanding which factors trigger your headaches is essential to curing them.
